All Datacheap customers have equal rights to receive high-quality communication and internet services, taking into account the technical capabilities of the operator and current Russian legislation. To protect these rights, we are guided by the “Fair Usage Policy” within the Public Agreement—the terms and conditions for providing access to communication and internet services described below.
The bandwidth of each node is fixed. Therefore, when a large number of users are connected to the internet simultaneously or individual customers consume higher-than-average traffic volumes, additional load is placed on the network, which reduces the internet speed of other users.
According to the Fair Usage Policy, speed may be reduced for all customers during peak hours or for individual customers with excessive internet traffic consumption. Speed throttling helps evenly distribute the network load.
According to our data, 99% of Datacheap customers consume internet traffic efficiently and do not experience speed reductions due to overuse of unlimited plans or services.
If your internet speed has decreased, it means you are in the top 1% of users with the highest traffic consumption. Don’t worry, your internet is still unlimited, and you can use it without any restrictions. We strive to maintain the speed for a comfortable experience.
The speed throttling remains in effect until the next package charge is issued after the subscription fee for the plan or service.
If you don’t consume excessive amounts of internet traffic, you won’t notice a difference in speed. Signs of excessive usage include: using internet services for VPN/proxy services, illegal activities (DDoS, spam), excessive use of torrents/peer-to-peer protocols, streaming audio/video content, and others.
